Iran said it "will not submit" to any U.S. pressures, claiming it had already won the war, and that U.S. President Donald Trump, who threatened severe economic measures on any country supporting Iran, was getting desperate.

Trade talks fall through between the United States and Canada
The United States imposed 50 percent tariffs on $20 billion worth of goods from Canada after trade talks reportedly collapsed late on Aug 14, with both sides arguing the other made last-minute changes and demands. "Canada will match those tariffs dollar for dollar to protect our workers and businesses," Prime Minister Mark Carney said.

Russia, Ukraine trade air attacks, leaving more people dead
Both Russia and Ukraine exchanged deadly attacks again with at least 10 people being killed. Russia targeted railway infrastructure, locomotive depots, and Kyiv and the Zaporizhzhia region. Ukraine, on the other hand, targeted Russia's southern Krasnodar region, leaving three people dead, including two children. Overall, the death toll continues to rise on both sides of the border, infrastructure continues to take heavy hits, and many more were wounded in this recent spate of attacks.
